In 1880, brothers Charles and John Pinard purchased the land on the corner
of Narragansett and Annandale Avenues in Newport, RI. The brothers
owned a catering business in New York City and were looking to tap into the
growing Newport area.

 |
In 1881, Pinard Cottages were built according to the design of architect
Dudley Newton. There were originally 6 cottages.
|
 |
Over the years, the cottages were turned into apartments, mostly inhabited
by students of the nearby Naval Academy. Eventually, they fell into
disrepair and were left in slummish condition.
|
 |
In 1981, Pinard Cottage Condo Association was established. The
cottages were completely gutted and renovated, keeping much of the original
design, including stained glass windows.
